The spiritual reason for "Easter gladness"
Easter comes alive with joy and blessings as we rediscover its spiritual meaning in our lives today.
Early one Easter morning I was thinking of all the blessings that had come into my life from Christian Science— healings of childhood diseases and accidents, fine Sunday School teaching received as a youngster, and the loving care of a mother who was a sincere student of this Science.
The list of blessings grew and grew: healings of relationship problems, of illness, healings experienced by both my wife and daughter—along with my own growing perception of Godlike qualities in them that completely superseded all human ties.
A tremendous sense of joy swept over me for how much the Christ, Truth, had done in my life through Christian Science. I realized in a small measure the gratitude Christ Jesus' disciples must have felt on that Easter morning nearly two thousand years ago when they breakfasted with their Master and learned that he had not died. See John, chap. 21 . His example, and their realization of the truth of all that he had taught, brought such an impetus to the disciples that soon after they went out healing and preaching as they never had before.
