In 1982 when I was in England, I woke one night to find the membrane in the palate of my mouth had swollen alarmingly. A Christian Science practitioner was called and she came immediately from a long distance, braving severe weather and arriving in the early hours of the morning.
It was about three o'clock in the morning when she arrived. She spoke to me, sharing truths of God and man and assuring me that I was really the spiritual image and likeness of God. She stayed overnight at the Christian Science nursing facility where I was working and came in to see me again later that day.
I was not eating anything solid, as I had difficulty swallowing and breathing. The physical evidence yielded within several days, but a fear of death remained. I spoke with the practitioner whenever the suggestion of death gripped me. Then one morning the fear gave way as this truth came to mind: "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord" (Psalms). I felt entirely free, and my healing was complete.
