Healing through self-immolation

Self-immolation—the willing sacrifice of the false sense of self—is essential for healing in Christian Science.

Why?

Because every form of evil besetting one is related to a mortal sense of self, which must be nullified in order for one to see his true, perfect identity and thus gain healing for oneself or others. Mrs. Eddy asserts in Science and Health, "Prayer, watching, and working, combined with self-immolation, are God's gracious means for accomplishing whatever has been successfully done for the Christianization and health of mankind."
