To Change the King's Word

It soon becomes apparent in reading the Bible that all things are possible with God. The Scriptures are rich in examples of individuals who took their stand with God and refused to be thwarted, even in seeming danger. In many of their experiences the evidence before the physical senses must have seemed very distressing. Yet faced with problems far beyond their own personal ability to solve, they turned completely to God, divine Love, and experienced the working of His law.

The law of God is the rule of ever-present harmony—Love governing every situation, no matter what the human senses are reporting. This law when applied to the human scene enables us to see a problem in its proper perspective and to recognize God as the victor while the evil or error is being destroyed.

According to the Bible account, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were sure of God's protecting love holding them in a state of harmony despite the flames surrounding them. Because they had refused to worship the false gods of the king, they were thrown into a furnace so hot it killed the guards who threw them in. Yet the three Hebrews, remaining steadfast, held to God and to His control. The result was that the fire couldn't touch them. They had taken a stand for God, and an honest, enlightened stand for God includes protection. The king, after seeing them unharmed, said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word,...that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God." Dan. 3:28;
