DIVINELY FED
The wilderness bewilders yet,
a barren nightmare
where the children
wail and stretch out
wasted arms for food not there.
Father-Mother Love,
what do we need to learn?
Meekness—
to identify their plight,
seeing ourselves and them to be
waifs together:
one starving mouth suspends my appetite.
Trust—
to penetrate the greed and fear
with faith, remembering
manna on the ground,
water from sheer rock,
and the multiplied fishes and loaves,
knowing we are altogether fed
by Spirit's overflowing good,
Truth's nourishment, Mind's sustenance.
Action—
compassion, an avenging angel,
bursting through the gates
of official and unofficial lethargy
to grow
to give
to feed
to save.
