The foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal (II Tim. 2:19)
The words that follow are like the text of a foundation-stone seal or inscription that identifies the building: "The Lord knoweth them that are his." The New English Bible translates the verse, "God has laid a foundation, and it stands firm, with this inscription: 'The Lord knows his own.'"
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead (Rom. 1:20)
