GIVING
Once, when a friend gave much,
I found myself disturbed
that I had no means to repay her.
Then I found another
whose need I could meet
and gladly gave,
discovering that giving is not
a simple back and forth, pistonlike,
but an edgeless fabric of loving,
woven seamless,
with warp of unselfed giving
and woof of selfless receiving,
a blanket of love enfolding all,
reflecting infinite Love.
