Don't Consent to Disease

Late one night a Christian Science practitioner received a telephone call from a person in urgent need of help. The caller said she was alone in the house, in extreme pain, and felt she was losing consciousness.

The practitioner calmly told her, "You know, you don't have to lose consciousness, and you won't if you don't consent to it." To lose her real consciousness, she further explained, would actually be impossible, since the only true consciousness is God, the all-knowing, ever-present Mind, from whom man, God's image and likeness, can never be separated.

After further encouragement along these lines the patient said the pain had ceased and she felt at peace. She went to bed and had a restful night's sleep, waking in the morning to find she had been completely healed.
