Christian Science has given me so much joy and security, an understanding of health as spiritual, and of true humility. It has taught me, through the deep study of its teachings, and particularly of the quality of grace, how to transform seeming problems into opportunities to grow in grace.

After joining a branch church and The Mother Church, I was healed of resentment and learned to impersonalize error. This released me from memories of harrowing experiences during my childhood. Many times I pondered these Bible verses (Eccl. 3:14, 15): "I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him. That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past."

Following class instruction in Christian Science I learned to think more consistenly of God's perfect spiritual creation; to separate error from individuals or things. I learned to correlate in my thoughts the words from the Bible previously quoted with Mary Baker Eddy's statement in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany (p. 12): "We own no past, no future, we possess only now. If the reliable now is carelessly lost in speaking or in acting, it comes not back again." In separating evil from a past and from persons, I was freed from resentment and regret about lost opportunities. I could look at earlier experiences without an accusing thought, and an understanding of God as Love permeated my consciousness.
