My sincere gratitude for our wonderful religion and the writings of Mrs. Eddy, including the textbook, Science and Health, giving us the Key to the Scriptures, can only be expressed by my daily living. Of this I am sure, but I have been helped so many times by the testimonies of others that I write this hoping it will meet someone's need.

The Bible was very dear to me from the time I was a child. In later years I went from one church to another in search of the truth taught and demonstrated by our Way-shower, Christ Jesus. No one seemed to answer my questions, but I kept searching, for I had great need of spiritual understanding. There were physical problems also, but at that time I did not know about the healing power of Christian Science.

I was a traveling saleswoman and became very interested in the Christian Science Sentinels I found in the various hotel lobbies. This was really my introduction to Science. I observed that the students of this religion always seemed to be joyous and at peace, despite the personal problems I knew they had. I started visiting the Christian Science Reading Rooms in the various towns when I was there on business. The librarians were always very helpful. I was a heavy smoker at that time, and this bothered me, but whenever I brought up this subject, knowing the smell of tobacco was noticeable, the librarians did not seem to be disturbed about this. They just assured me that someday I would be free. After I started to study the textbook, I had an instantaneous healing of this habit and since then have had no desire for a cigarette at any time.
