Although I was in need of physical healing, I did not begin the study of Christian Science for this reason. I wanted to know God— to love and trust Him. I had been brought up in another religion, but my questions and my longing to know God better were not satisfied. Not only did Christian Science teach me that I am a spiritual idea, loved and cared for by God, but that God is my Father-Mother, always present.

I was healed of migraine from which a medical doctor told me I would suffer for years to come. Anemia, a pinched nerve, and what appeared to be a heart attack were also healed.

The latter experience took place one evening before I retired. I was suddenly seized with pain so severe that I could not move. For the first and only time in my life I felt I might not survive. With tears rolling down my cheeks, I reached out to God for a healing truth. The answer came in a verse recalled from Psalms (118: 17): "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." This was truly a divine message, and I held to it. My husband called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and in a little while I was able to go to bed and sleep. In a few days all symptoms disappeared, and I was able to care for our home and infant son freely. This took place over thirteen years ago and has not recurred.
