Consistent Joy

Some of us have times when, after feeling on top of the world, we plunge down into a valley of despondency. This unsettled state is often believed to be produced by weather, our own actions, or the actions of others. But these varied human moods are not part of the real selfhood of man made in God's likeness. There is no pendulum swinging between joy and depression in God's universe. By holding thought steadfastly to the truth that man is joyful because he expresses God, the source of true joy, we can be exempt from these fluctuations.
