God's Word Is Quick and Powerful

Many times a verse from the Bible familiar to us for years takes on entirely new meaning as we study and ponder it.

Such was my experience as a student of Christian Science when I had been considering this verse from Hebrews for some time: "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Heb. 4:12; Slowly and thoughtfully I repeated it from memory, trying to grasp the full spiritual import of the words and to rule out of consciousness a persistent condition of pain in my legs that made walking extremely difficult.

I had experienced many quick healings in Christian Science, and I began to think of definite instances of healing and express gratitude for them. I recalled one in particular. My husband and I had left the city and were living in a rather isolated spot without a telephone or near neighbors. My husband's work took him several miles away from home, and I was alone each day.
