Right Thinking Is Our Responsibility

Are men helplessly subject to an endless variety of troubles? No, the trials and troubles of human experience spring from mankind's misunderstanding of God's true nature and man's true relationship to God.

Inharmonious conditions exist because the world accepts the mistaken belief that there is an evil power opposed to God, good, and that this evil power is able to govern man. The unenlightened world thought is based on the erroneous, though commonly accepted, belief that man is material, separated from God, divine Spirit, and subject to arbitrary laws of chance, disease, and death.

Christian Science teaches that the real man is created in God's image and likeness, as the Bible reveals in the first chapter of the book of Genesis. Therefore man is spiritual, because God is infinite Spirit. Man, the image, or reflection, of God, cannot be separated from God, divine Mind, eternal Principle. Man forever exists— always has and always will exist—as the evidence of ever-present Life, Truth, and Love.
