Many blessings have come to me as a direct result of the application of the teachings of Christian Science. I first learned of this religion when as a child I studied it to some extent and experienced some healings. Then, as a young woman working in a strange city, I felt a great need to turn wholeheartedly to the study and application of this wonderful truth for the healing of many fears and insecurities. I sought out a Christian Science practitioner, and with her understanding and generous help I was guided into the right path. At this time I experienced an instantaneous healing of the smoking habit.

The main problem at that time was an appalling sense of stage fright and nervousness that had taken all the pleasure out of music for me. Music had been my greatest delight; in fact, it was my teaching field, but I had given it up. As I began to study Science diligently, and earnestly tried to apply what I was learning, the healing was taking place. Then when I learned the need for a musician, I felt led to offer my services as organist or singer for Christian Science church services on the air base where I was working. This was difficult for me to do much of the time, but it was the beginning of the end of that dreadful fear, and provided proof of the statement of Mrs. Eddy: "When we are willing to help and to be helped, divine aid is near" (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 166).

How grateful I am for the consecrated practitioners, who help so faithfully and unselfishly! About ten years ago while we were on a pleasure trip, our small daughter became quite ill. It was a frightening situation. We called a practitioner, and the healing was so quick and complete that the child was able to go swimming the following day when we reached our destination.
