It is with heartfelt gratitude that I wish to record the following healing. At the Home, where I reside, a lump was discovered on one of my breasts. Fearful predictions were voiced by doctors and nurses if I did not have it attended to by surgery. This I definitely declined to consider. I called a practitioner, a dedicated Christian Scientist, who started prayerful work to support and encourage me in my aim to purify my thinking.

Still there was pressure from the Home authorities for medical surgery. The head of the nursing staff came to me and said: "Why don't you go to the hospital and have this thing taken care of?" I said, "No, I will not go to the hospital; I will just go away," having in mind the Christian Science Benevolent Association, San Francisco.

In the meantime the breast had begun to drain. The practitioner took care of the arrangements for my admission to the Sanatorium, and although the healing had started, I went for ten days. There the wound was dressed, and the discharge subsided almost entirely. At no time did I experience any inconvenience or suffering. There was a complete healing. Where I live they called it a miracle, perhaps because I am in my nineties. I called it divinely natural, as Mary Baker Eddy defines "miracle" in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 591): "That which is divinely natural, but must be learned humanly; a phenomenon of Science."
