Why Human Existence?
The desire to know one's purpose in life comes to everyone, even small children. It takes form in such questions as: "Who am I?" "Where is God?" and "Why human existence?"
For many, the questions foreshadow their own answers because sincere desire for spiritual enlightenment is prayer, which is never left unanswered. We read in the Bible, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5; A very effective way of turning to God for wisdom is through the study of the Bible in conjunction with Christian Science. Here the truth of spiritual being awaits one.
Christian Science teaches that God, good, is All—all Spirit, Mind, Truth, and Love—and that God makes man in His image and likeness, reflecting His purity, perfection, and completeness. The student learns from this Science that God is intelligent, good, and true, the only power and presence. Man, the expression of God, is revealed to be as pure and spiritual as his creator, and thus never demoralized or even reached by false suggestions of material sense.
