"What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out" (Luke 4:36). This conviction ascribed to Jesus is what I experienced after having class instruction with a devoted teacher of Christian Science. Soon I had a wonderful opportunity to prove what I had learned.

During my stay at a summer camp, I spent one evening with a group of counselors traveling to a nearby town to hear a popular vocal group. On the return drive to camp one of the boys became quite ill. The camp nurse sent him to the hospital, and in the morning we were told that he was in an iron lung with a severe case of polio.

This took place some years ago when the fear of the disease was quite common. My refusal to participate in an emergency medical program prescribed by the local physician was graciously accepted. I had already turned to God.
