Words of Current Interest

The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the CHRISTIAN SCIENCE QUARTERLY designated to be read in Christian Science churches on February 16, 1969.

Mesopotamia (Gen. 24:10)

The word is derived from the Greek mesos (middle) and potamos (river) and refers strictly to the area between the rivers Euphrates and Tigris. Much of ancient "Mesopotamia" now lies in Iraq. Abram lived at Haran, in northern Mesopotamia before he set out for Canaan at God's command (see Gen. 12:1–5).

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones (Prov. 16:24)
