"He shall direct thy paths"
A divine directive, heeded, can resolve an impending emergency. The following incident illustrates the practical value of a young man's listening to a Bible directive, namely, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Prov. 3:6;
One autumn afternoon some years ago he began one of his many trips along the north shore of Lake Ontario. He was experienced in handling a canoe and even enjoyed rough weather. On that day the wind was light, and no changes in the weather were predicted. But by evening a strong windstorm had developed hazardous lake conditions. When darkness came, the few shore lights and all stars were invisible.
After several hours of paddling, with the canoe shipping water, he considered abandoning it after putting on the life preserver. He stopped paddling; then he prayed earnestly for direction. Shortly came the thought to do what the captain of a lake vessel would do in similar weather, that is, steer directly into the wind. The double paddle he was using was ideal for this.
