THE LIGHT OF CHRISTMAS

The light that heralds the perfect day
Is the Christ. It will outshine
The dark and heavy clouds of sense
With rays of Love's omnipotence,
Bringing prayer's sweet recompense.
Its purpose—God's design.

Pilgrims, treading the arduous road
Of earthly toil and din,
Cleanse the windows of thought anew,
Let the light of Christ come shining through,
Never let it be said that you
Offered no room within.
