Although I attended a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age and relied on Christian Science treatment for all my healings, it was not until my college days that I began consecrated study and application of this wonderful religion. At that time I thought of myself as a very unhappy, unloving and unloved little fish in a big pond, a large state university. My grades were not up to the high standards I had previously maintained, my personal relationships were confused and often discordant, and my thoughts for my future were gloomy and unsure.

Through active membership in the Christian Science organization at the university I soon learned many joyous facts about myself. I was the beloved child of God, endowed with all the good and lasting qualities I needed in my experience, such as interest, comprehension, and a perfect memory. This new appraisal of myself enabled me to become a better student. The qualities of understanding and gentleness helped me be a better friend; and the qualities of humility and trust in God soon brought about a clearer sense of my purpose in life. I learned my purpose is to let God manifest His perfection in me, His child.

A happy marriage to another Christian Scientist followed. Shortly thereafter we both had the precious and invaluable experience of class instruction.
