In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes (Pref., p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I wish to relate how the truth sustained me in one of my first Christian Science healings. It took place thirteen years ago, and the healing has been permanent. While going through great mental turmoil, I scanned the testimonies in our periodicals, hoping to read of one who had been healed of this same nervous trouble. I found a testimony which encouraged me.

The nervous condition so affected my thinking that every time I was away from home I felt I had to rush home for fear I would lose control of myself and do something terrible. But the story of Moses in the Bible would come to me—of how, when he was tempted to flee before the serpent, he was bidden by wisdom to come back and handle it and it became a staff to lean upon. So I listened to this angel thought and would not rush home but know the truth that God controlled me. And it did become a staff upon which to lean. At times I felt I was losing my mind, but I learned to know God as Mind and that therefore Mind could not be lost.

At times the mental conflict was terrible. At no time, though, did I submit to this error or have anyone stay with me. No one knew I was going through this except my husband, a son, and the Christian Science practitioner who gave me treatment. I attended to all my church duties and my home duties and did not spend one day in bed. I could not eat properly and lost thirty pounds. Two lines from one of Mrs. Eddy's poems (Poems, p. 7),
