Movement in Accord with God

An individual's ability to move with strength and flexibility is commonly believed to be physical, dependent on the material structure and health of the human body. But Christian Science declares true movement to be wholly a spiritual activity, dependent upon Mind, not matter, and forever painless, effortless, joyous, governed by divine law. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action."Science and Health, p. 283;

True mobility, being derived from divine Mind, is eternal. Nothing can impede the normal action of divine Mind and of man in God's image and likeness. Movement is perpetually expressed in the harmonious action of Spirit's creation. The real, spiritual man reflects the freedom of movement that is inherent in immortal Mind, divine Love; and one who understands this truth is sure to display harmonious activity. Man's mobility cannot be paralyzed by disease, crippled by bodily injury, or slowed down by age.

The human ability to move freely and gracefully increases in proportion as one gains the understanding of the uninhibited activity of the infinite Mind reflected by man. Mrs. Eddy says, "To understand that Mind is infinite, not bounded by corporeality, not dependent upon the ear and eye for sound or sight nor upon muscles and bones for locomotion, is a step towards the Mind-science by which we discern man's nature and existence." p. 84;
