What Constitutes Man?

The people of Christ Jesus' time saw him as resembling any other man they knew; they saw him as a corporeal personality. But the great Master proved he was not this kind of man. By healing blindness, deafness, and all manner of disease and by overcoming death for himself and others, he proved that the real man is quite different from the limited corporeality observed by the material senses.

The Psalmist wrote, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?" Ps. 8:4; By learning about the nature of God, we understand the nature of the real man, the man God creates and knows.

According to Christian Science, God, Spirit, cannot know a material man; and since God is the all-knowing Mind, there can be no reality in the concept of man as material, as a corporeal personality. Understanding this, we can declare that we do not know a material man, that we know only the man God knows—the indestructible, harmonious, spiritual man, the man we are, have always been, and always will be.
