In the Bible we read (Ps. 46:1), "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." These words have been proven true in my experience, for whenever I have cried out to Him for help, He has answered.

I was once in a plane flying low over jagged Norwegian mountain peaks during a fierce snowstorm. The plane labored, and the turbulence was frightening. We came to a craggy promontory where we were to land on a small airstrip which started at the sea and ended with the sea. We approached for a landing, but the plane was not in control for the precise landing that was necessary, and so the pilot rose to try again. My fright turned to panic, and I began earnestly to repeat truths of God's dominion and government. Though I went over and over them, the panic kept me from understanding them.

The pilot made a second attempt to land. The plane careened from side to side, and he arose again in failure. At this point the panic assumed such dreadful proportion that I felt ill, and in my extremity I stopped trying to reason and called out to God directly, simply, and urgently.
