Life Is Because God Is

Down through the centuries the question, What is life? has puzzled many. The advent of Jesus answered this question for those of his followers who understood his teachings, but these followers were small in number. As men grew in understanding the Scriptures, many began to learn and accept the fact that God gives life and that He is the only creator. Philip James Bailey, a nineteenth-century poet, conceived an advanced thought for his era when he wrote,

Let each man think himself an act of God,
His mind a thought, his life a breath of God;
And let each try, by great thoughts and good deeds,
To show the most of Heaven he hath in him.
