While I was attending business college in 1904-5, one of the professors suggested that it would be helpful if we took shorthand notes at public lectures. Subsequently a Christian Science lecture was advertised. I attended that lecture prepared to take it all down in shorthand, but was so entranced that I failed to take a single note. That was my introduction to Christian Science.
I immediately borrowed a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from the public library. Later I purchased a secondhand copy, which I carried with me daily and studied at every opportunity. While I did not comprehend all that I read, my health improved.
I quickly found employment as a secretary in a large corporation, a position I held for thirty-eight years. When our office was transferred to another city, I immediately located a Christian Science Reading Room, where I spent many fruitful hours in study. I attended church services and lectures regularly.
