The Continuing Need of Healing

Spiritual healing is the most important activity taking place in the world today. It was important to Christ Jesus and to the Christians of his day; and for nearly three centuries after he left the earth Christian healing continued. It was gradually lost as an element of worship, and not until the discovery of Christian Science by Mary Baker Eddy was it taken up again as essential to Christianity. Never again must it be lost, but it must increase in power and achievement as the centuries advance.

To assure the continuity of spiritual healing, those who accept Christian Science have to realize why it is important. One reason is that healing brings humanity close to God, revealing His loving nature and His will for man, who is not the sin-ridden, disease-burdened mortal he seems to be, but the healthy, immortal image of his Maker.

Another reason why healing is important is that this activity robs the carnal, or mortal, mind of its most destructive tools—sin and disease. Most important of all is the fact that spiritual healing obliterates the evil mind in which everything wrong is conceived. Healing breaks down limitations of intelligence and ability. It demonstrates God's omnipresence and His government of all. And it opens the doors of heaven, thereby revealing the realm of Spirit, Mind, where the truth of all things exists.
