This is not only a testimony of the healing of sickness but also...

This is not only a testimony of the healing of sickness but also of the overcoming of the arguments of mortal mind which would try to rob us of the good that God has in store for us. Having had Christian Science all my life, it was my privilege to have class instruction many years ago. Each year as the time for the association meeting approached, obstacles seemed to appear to prevent my attending. During the war years there was the problem of transportation. As my association meeting is held in Boston, it is necessary for me to cross the continent. Each year the arguments were handled, disposed of, and I was present.

Then came the day when I became so physically ill that it was almost impossible to walk, and breathing was extremely difficult. What the condition might be called I didn't know, but I saw clearly that I must know what it was not! The thought of human will in connection with attending my association meeting was completely dispelled. My desire was to do God's will and to be obedient to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, being fully aware of what she says of it in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 230). She writes, "Of this I am sure, that each Rule and By-law in this Manual will increase the spirituality of him who obeys it, invigorate his capacity to heal the sick, to comfort such as mourn, and to awaken the sinner."

With the full cooperation, support, and encouragement of my devoted husband, but with great physical difficulty, I boarded the plane, arrived in Boston, and went directly to the Christian Science Benevolent Association, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. A practitioner supported me through prayer, and dear friends helped in every way; and I was in my place at the association meeting.
