The Man God Made

According to Biblical teachings man is the image and likeness of God. And according to Christian Science there is no real existence apart from God and what He creates. Anyone who understands the spiritual, scientific relationship of his true selfhood to God, Spirit, may declare without fear or hesitation, "I am the man God made."

What a glorious awakening from the limitations of a false sense of selfhood this realization brings us! And what opportunities for improvement it reveals ! This is not to say that we need to change or improve the man God made, the man who is by divine decree already perfect and Godlike. But the thought of one who believes himself to be separated from God and embodied in organic matter, therefore subject to the so-called laws of sin, disease, and death, most assuredly must be improved.

Christian Science reveals the spiritual import of Biblical teachings and shows one how to find the true sense of selfhood in God's likeness. For example, in close support of Christ Jesus' declaration, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," Matt. 5:48; Mrs. Eddy counsels, "The great spiritual fact must be brought out that man is, not shall be, perfect and immortal."
