"We soil our garments with conservatism, and afterwards we must wash them clean" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, p. 452). When I look around and see how many good people are fettered by the same false beliefs that I have overcome through the study and application of Christian Science, I realize I have been much too conservative in telling others of my experience of the redeeming and regenerating powers of this Science.

In early boyhood I developed horsemanship talents. Many years of my life were spent racing horses as a livelihood as well as a recreation. At that time I had a great love for horse racing, "the sport of kings," as it is referred to.

Then a very dear friend placed a copy of Science and Health in my hands. After I had studied God in the light of Christian Science, it became clear to me that God made everything that was made, and everything was founded upon Him, unchanging Principle. This thought ruled out the belief that there can be any chance or gamble in God's nature. Also I learned that man was made in God's image and likeness. Therefore there was no chance or gamble in man's nature.
