"The radiation of Spirit"

Mankind is hungering for a better understanding of God, an understanding that is applicable to their present needs. In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, are found seven synonyms for God: Principle, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Life, Truth, Love. To catch a glimpse of the depth and breadth of any one of these synonyms is to draw close to the true nature of God and to understand a little of the wholeness, the allness, the perfection of the Supreme Being. Such an understanding helps to heal the most stubborn, long-standing case of sin or disease.

For example, a study of the references to Spirit in Mrs. Eddy's writings will reveal how consistently she uses this term to designate special characteristics and functions of Deity. As thought turns to the inspiration and illumination in these passages, the Bible promise, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you,"^{ James 4:8:} is fulfilled.

As spiritual truths take over in human consciousness, thought gradually disentangles itself from matter and mortal belief. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Spirit imparts the understanding which uplifts consciousness and leads into all truth."^{ Science and Health, p. 505;}
