"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Ps. 103:2)

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits" (Ps. 103:2). Among all the benefits which I have received from God, I remember with joy and gratitude the healing of our little boy a very long time ago when he was seven years old.

My husband was in the Army, and we had just been posted to a strange town when I noticed that our son had a deformation of the lower jaw. The deformation grew worse, and one day the dentist at the military hospital told me sadly that he thought X-ray pictures he had taken showed a cancer and that he had called in a specialist to examine the boy the next day.

I was so surprised and so alarmed by this declaration that I did not reverse it as I should have done, and I let myself be overwhelmed by fear and sorrow. However, I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner who lived some distance away and asked her to give the boy treatment. The thought of her consecrated work gave me courage.
