The Right Sense of Possession
In the year 1929 the United States of America experienced the collapse of the stock market. Investors by the thousands were financially wiped out. This was a period in which one's sense of possession underwent trial. In instances where the investor held too dear the funds and properties lost, it became evident that his investments represented to some decree a false idol, which had fallen, leaving him broken and destitute.
The study of Christian Science gives one the right sense of possession, which would sustain him through such an experience. By leaning upon his understanding of true substance, which is Spirit. God, he would maintain peace and balance.
Any grief suffered over lost possessions is in direct proportion to our material evaluation of those possessions. Therefore, it is important that we make an immediate evaluation of our possessions to ascertain what they mean to us. Christ Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven"; and he repeated for emphasis, "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." Matt. 19:23, 24;
