I have had many proofs of the healing power of the Christ through the study and application of Christian Science; but two, somewhat similar, healings stand out at this writing. While mowing our lakeside lawn with a power mower, I felt fierce pain in both of my legs. Because it was a hot afternoon, I was wearing walking shorts and knee-length stockings. Looking down, I saw that my legs were covered with angry wasps. I had inadvertently run over an underground wasp's nest with the mower.

I ran for the house as fast as I could, all the while brushing off the wasps. When inside, I sank into a chair and tried to realize the truth as one is taught to do in Christian Science. After some little time, my thinking cleared, and I recalled the experience of a small girl who had run in from her garden crying, "Mother, Mother, I have stung myself with a bee!"

I began to see how true the little girl's statement was. Since one's outward experience is a direct result of one's own thinking, the young lady had literally stung herself with an insect which she believed to be poisonous, and I too had stung myself with my belief. I began to handle the thought of poison and the thought of any carrier of poison, knowing that nothing in God's universe, which is the only universe there is, can know of or transmit anything which is not Godlike and therefore not good. The pain began to subside.
