Praying for the World
The Bible states, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16;
Perhaps we do not feel that our prayers can help the vast world beyond our own frontiers, but to think like this is to lend ourselves to evil, mesmeric suggestion. The world needs the prayers of "a righteous man"—of the right thinking individual—and the Christian Scientist is equipped to think rightly about the world.
From the beginning of his ministry, Jesus, our Way-shower, gently led the thought of his followers to see that the Christ, Truth, was the Saviour of all men. He said, "Other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." John 10:16;
