The Bishop of Coventry as reported in The Times, London [© The Times Publishing Company, Limited, 1965. All rights reserved. Reprinted by permission.]

Speaking in St. Bride's Church, Fleet Street, at the annual service of the Publicity Club of London, the Bishop of Coventry, Dr. Bardsley, said . . . that Britain had been invaded by a sixth column of "ideological saboteurs" who were undermining established values and putting nothing in their place. . . . The bishop continued: . . . "The nature of this invasion has been well described by Peter Fleming in a book in which he speaks of a 'sixth column.' If an enemy desired to capture and subjugate Britain, he suggests, he would not these days, send an army. He would infiltrate sixth columnists, men who would steadily, quietly, relentlessly, through the use of all means of communication set about lowering the morale of our people. . . ."

[Dr. Bardsley] said the activities of the demolition experts could be divided into two kinds.
