Before I became interested in Christian Science, I visited a medical doctor who advised me to have certain treatments for a physical condition. At this time I was having abdominal pains and had visited other doctors.
When the doctor informed me that there should not be a delay in having these treatments, I expressed no fear and did not ask him for a diagnosis. He could see that I was not disturbed and warned me two or three times of the urgency of having the treatments.
I went home and thought about what the doctor had told me, but the only thing that seemed important to me was to acquire an understanding of God. For years I had been visiting churches of various denominations but had failed to gain an understanding of God.
