Some years ago, in a branch church of which I was a member, I gave a testimony beginning with these words from the Message to The Mother Church for 1902 by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 4): "Our thoughts of the Bible utter our lives." I have found this statement to be true. Before I became interested in Christian Science the Bible had been a closed book to me for some time because I found it both puzzling and contradictory. But as I studied "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our loving Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I found this key gave access to the truths in the Bible hitherto undiscovered by me.

As I understood these truths better and to the degree I put them into practice, my life was changed in many ways. The signs following my changed and more spiritualized way of thinking were gradual demonstrations of better health and morals. However, before this early stage had been reached I had been ill and was finally threatened with an operation for a functional disorder. The doctor attending me had been most kind, but eventually he told me definitely he could do no more.

It was then I turned to Christian Science for help, though knowing little about it except that in some vague way it was connected with physical healing. Through the help of a practitioner, I was healed in a few days of the physical trouble, which has never returned though the healing took place many years ago. I knew nothing of Christian Science at the time of this healing, but at once I started the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon, printed in the Christian Science Quarterly. I had thrown away all the medicines and medical aids hitherto used.
