Sometime ago I experienced a healing of a severe pain in my back that almost completely immobilized me for a while. During the week or ten days that a practitioner was doing work in Christian Science for me, I had a sure expectancy of receiving healing, and I was grateful when it came. However, I had a feeling of wanting to know more about just how such healing takes place.
Most of my life has been spent as an active, working Christian Scientist; but this experience of physical disability was new to me, and I knew there was a lesson to be learned. Much inspiring unfoldment came to me. One of the thoughts was that I was afraid of being afraid. I realized that fear had no power to create or destroy; therefore I need not be afraid that fear could do anything to me or hold me in bondage in any way.
I had been working hard to overcome fear, whereas what I really had to know was that fear couldn't do a thing. It seemed so simple, and I felt a great release. Now, the healing was not instantaneous, but gradually my normal activities were resumed one by one, and the discomfort disappeared. I didn't make an issue of analyzing the experience but did feel that there had been growth and a lesson in it for me and prayed that it would be revealed to me.
