The Lion Shall Lie Down with the Lamb

Christian Science, as presented by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health, sets forth universal perfection—God the perfect cause and the universe the perfect effect. One point of view that enlarges our sense of holy perfection is the truth that not only the spiritual man is perfect but the whole spiritual creation—the whole universe—is perfect.

This means that every creature is in its true nature altogether spiritual and lovely, and each in its own necessary way expresses God. We who love animals have been much comforted by Christ Jesus' reassuring words concerning the Father's care for the sparrows. A sweet sense of God's brooding care has warmed the heart of many children who are Christian Scientists in their loving care for their household pets.

The view of universal perfection is, of course, quite unlike the mortal concept of creation and is only perceived through revelation, reason, and demonstration, but to glimpse this glorious fact dispels the possibility of any hostility or meaninglessness anywhere in existence, and the individual's knowledge of God's infinite goodness is deepened.
