Our World

Students of Christian Science have a sacred duty and a deep responsibility to pray daily for the world. This duty is specifically expressed in the "Daily Prayer" in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy (Art. VIII, Sect. 4), "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to pray each day: 'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"

Prayer in Christian Science is knowing the true sense of any situation, bringing the Christ, Truth, into action. Alert students of this scientific religion never accept any inharmonious situation as inevitable or incurable. They know that through prayer the right answer to every human situation must unfold.

The sincere Scientist knows that he must be just as firm and fearless when praying for the so-called world situation as he is when working for himself or his family. Where there seems to be ignorance, strife, poverty, or greed, right there in actuality is an abundance of peace, riches, understanding, and love. This sure sense of the allness of God, good, must be constantly maintained in consciousness, even though it may not be evident in human experience.
