There was a time when each day...

There was a time when each day my husband called home from the office he was given the same complaint: I was suffering from a headache and a dizzy spell. In addition arthritis and sciatica tormented me. Because of this it was very difficult for me to do any reading, and because of unfounded prejudice I had especially not intended to look into a book given to us by his secretary.

One day my husband called, and after the usual remarks he prevailed upon me to pick up this book, called "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Reluctantly I agreed, not expecting to be able to read more than a few lines; but I found myself so engrossed that I lost all sense of time and environment, and before I had come to the end of the chapter on Prayer, there was no more headache or dizziness. My heart sang with joy; and I felt that a miracle had taken place, for it was almost thirteen years since I had felt so free. That was the last of these troubles. As I continued to read and absorb the truths contained in Science and Health, I found that unfavorable traits of character were being replaced by more favorable ones, that joy was present where depression had once seemed to be, and that a greater sense of harmony was being expressed in our home. Almost immediately the pains of arthritis and sciatica left me, and I was able to remove arch supports from my low-heeled prescribed shoes and soon to exchange these shoes for more fashionable ones with high heels.

A sense of grief at the passing of my husband was quickly healed with the help of a practitioner, and I was able to take on his responsibilities in his business, for which I had had no previous training. During one of my visits to this same practitioner, the cigarette habit fell away as I left her office, literally feeling as though I were walking on air, so uplifted were my thoughts. All these healings took place between thirteen and fourteen years ago.
