Signs of the Times
The Reverend W. Carl Thomas
in the "Pastor's Pulpit" column
of the California Farmer
San Francisco, California
Obviously, the problem of communication is two-sided. Either the speaker does not say what he has to say in understandable and relevant language or the listener is not listening. Or he is clouding up his hearing apparatus with meanings given to the speaker's words which were never intended to be so understood.
Audio research has proved again and again that the quality of listening in any audience determines to a large extent the power and effectiveness of the spoken word.
