You Never Travel Alone

[Of Special Interest to Children]

Allen had been invited to spend a week's vacation with friends in another town. This meant a three-hour bus trip. He had gone on trips before, but never alone. He wanted to see his friends and knew they had interesting things planned for him, but he was a bit fearful of traveling alone.

His mother had noticed this reluctance and sensed the fear he was holding in his thought. Because Allen attended the Christian Science Sunday School and had often before proved the truths he learned there, she sat down with him and opened the Bible.

"You know," she said, "God gives us many comforting promises in the Bible. When Jacob was going all alone through a wilderness where no one lived, God said to him (Gen. 28:15), 'Behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest.' We are always in God's company. No matter where we go—across the street, several blocks away, to another town or country, or even into outer space—God's all-presence completely surrounds us."
