The Vitality of Spirit

"The word of God is quick, and powerful" (Hebr. 4:12). As used in the Bible the word "quick" means "living, alive." The word "quicken" means "to make alive"; it implies the activity of inspiration. It indicates the expression of Life and vitality. Jesus said (John 6:63), "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing."

It is the life-giving quality of Spirit that is so essential to our experience of healing and regeneration. Spirit is Life, the source of all that sustains real existence. Communion with Spirit is drinking at the fountain of Life. Prayer and the study of the books, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy are the basic methods in this spiritualization of thought.

Inspiration is essential as our daily food. It is necessary for us to feel the presence of Spirit, the life-giving power of divine Love we can come to know man's unity with God, the source of all good, and then feel the effect of this reflection of good in our lives. Nothing can take the place of spiritual communion, for this is the only way to realize the quickening of Spirit.
