Mental Negation and Positive Blessing

Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 392), "The physical affirmation of disease should always be met with the mental negation." This shows with what firmness and despatch we are to meet disease, an error which might appear more real than some other discords because of its repeated assertions of reality through a sense of pain, unsightliness, or disturbed action.

If one has already given himself a Christian Science treatment and a testing time follows, one is offered an opportunity to prove that he really means what he has stated in his prayers or that he has faith that the truth he has declared—or that has been affirmed by a practitioner—is effective.

"The physical affirmation of disease" is not necessarily an occasion for another treatment, but for mental negation. Error could be tempting us to cover the whole ground which we have already covered correctly and well.
