When I was introduced to Christian Science over thirty-five years ago Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy meant nothing to me. I could not understand it. The cousin who had sent the textbook said nothing more about it at that time.

Fifteen years later, while I was visiting this same cousin, Science was again brought to my attention because of continuing headaches I was having. This time I could accept some of what was laid before me, and by means of the simple prayerful method of treatment taught me right on the spot, I was able to cope with the headaches whenever they tried to assert themselves. I was delighted, and I decided to delve deeper into this helpful way of life to learn more about it. After I had studied the textbook for about a month, the headaches began to abate, and they very shortly disappeared entirely.

Six months after the visit to my cousin, I decided that if Christian Science was all it was said to be, and what it seemed to be from my study of it, then it would heal what appeared to be a chronic need for a daily laxative and vitamin pill. It took two weeks of complete reliance on God to establish the healing, but it was a great triumph. Mrs. Eddy says on page 167 of Science and Health, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized." This has certainly proved to be true in my life. Problems of all kinds have been handled successfully through Christian Science over the past twenty years, without material aids of any kind. Social drinking and the use of coffee were given up, and problems of employment and supply have been solved easily and completely.
