WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST
[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on August 1, 1965.]
I am become as sounding brass (I Cor. 13:1)
The Revised Standard Version suggests, "I am a noisy gong." The word rendered "brass" means more strictly "copper" or "bronze" and was often used to denote some kind of musical instrument. Thus Weymouth has, "I am a blaring trumpet."
Grass...cast into the oven (Matt. 6:30)
